BURYING THE BOURBON

For good reason, some traditions become antiquated over time and get lost in the past. But, we love to revive a good Southern tradition! Lore has it that if a couple buries a bottle of bourbon at the venue site where they are to be married, mother nature’s thirst is quenched, and she will bless them with a rain-free wedding day. While there are many variations to the details, most folks believe that this ceremony must be performed exactly one month before the wedding, the bottle must be completely full, and it must be buried upside down in order for it to keep the rain away.

It is our mission to ensure that couples getting married on The Farm have the best experience possible, and even if their special day does get rained out, they can at least take part in a “Glen Haven” Southern tradition, and make some fun memories! The Farm at Glen Haven is gifting a custom engraved bottle of Woodford Reserve to all couples booking “The Glen Haven Experience.” Couples are invited to come out a month in advance, bury their bottle, and then return a year later on their anniversary to dig up their special treasure.
